Congratulations to John Osborne from Hartlepool who was announced the winner of our Cabbie of the Year 2012 competition at The Ricoh Arena in Coventry on 30th May. John was nominated by his daughter Rebecca and chosen as the winner out of 359 entries. Here is why Rebecca wanted her Father to win the first ever Swinton Taxi Cabbie of the Year award:

"I would like to nominate my dad because for the last 5 years he has given up his Christmas day with his family to take people to visit relatives in hospital free of charge. This year he even took someone to the RVI which was an 80 mile round trip free of charge. He has also donated his day's takings twice to local charities; Hartlepool Hospice and a little boy’s family who was severely injured in an accident. He sells Help for Heroes merchandise all year round for soldiers as well."

The Cabbie of the Year 2012 award was presented by Dave Bennett, ex Coventry City 1987 FA Cup winner at The Ricoh Area, Coventry. John Osborne wins £1,000 and his taxi insurance paid for one year. Second place was awarded to Akooji Badat from Batley who wins £500 and third place was taken by Craig Mcintosh from Croydon who wins £250.
