What if I don't have my taxi registration number when I do my quote?
You can still get a quote. As soon as you get your taxi registration, you will be able to proceed and buy the taxi insurance through us.
How will you know my taxi type from the registration?
We ask the DVLA. Simply enter your taxi registration number and we'll complete the rest. Don't worry – you can still edit the details if necessary.
Why do you need my email address?
We may email you about your policy or a claim, to let you know that your renewal date is approaching or even email you if we have some particularly good offers we think you'll be interested in. If you don't want us to email, you can opt out by mentioning this to the sales consultant on the call.

What is counted as motoring convictions?
These are criminal offences which you have been prosecuted for, such as speeding or drink driving. They will appear on your driving licence. We can only offer you an insurance quote online if you and any additional driver have no more than five motoring convictions amongst you.
The motoring conviction I had no longer shows as points on my licence but it was less than five years ago - do you need to know about that?

What if I have not notified the DVLA of my medical condition?

I have a second job; do I need to tell you?
Yes, we need to know as sometimes this could even bring you a cheaper quote for your taxi insurance depending on your occupation.
Can I get cover if I'm in full/part time education?
Yes, simply tell us when we ask your employment status.
Can I get cover if I'm not employed due to disability?

Why do I need to tell you where the taxi is kept overnight?
Where you keep your taxi can affect your insurance premium. If it is kept in a locked garage this could bring you a cheaper quote for your taxi insurance.
Why do you need my postcode?
We need your postcode so that we can capture your full address to send out your policy documents.
How do I work out the value of my taxi?
We simply need an estimate of the current value of your taxi. There are many websites and guides that provide this sort of reference service.
Why do you need to know the estimated annual mileage of my taxi?
Some insurers can reduce your premium if you only do limited mileage.
What do you mean by registered keeper of the taxi?
You can find this on your taxi registration document, which is sometimes called the logbook.
I have modified my taxi; do I have to let you know?
Yes, you need to tell us if your taxi has been modified in any way from the standard manufacturer's specification e.g. signage, non-standard alloy wheels or performance enhancements.
Can I get cover if my taxi has more than one modification?

My taxi has a security device. Should I let you know?

Can I protect my no claims bonus?
Some insurers will allow you to protect your no claims bonus if you have built up 4 years or more. Your no claims bonus is a valuable asset, worth up to 65% off your annual premium, so it's well worth protecting if you can. When you get your quote, if you are eligible you will be asked whether you want to protect your no claims bonus or not. This will affect the price you pay. Your no claims bonus could have been earned on a car or a taxi.
Do you sell Driver's Legal Protection?

Remember that even if someone else causes a motoring accident, you could still face the cost and bother of finding a solicitor to help you recover your costs and uninsured losses. What is voluntary excess?
There may be a compulsory excess in the insurance policy you have chosen. This is the amount you would have to pay if you needed to make a claim. You could reduce your premium if you agree to pay voluntary excess as well.
Can I alter the voluntary excess?
Of course you can. When you are given your quote we'll give you this option.
How can I make my quote lower?
There are lots of ways. Here are some tips:
i. Increase your voluntary excess – the more you are prepared to pay when you make a claim, the lower your premium may be.
ii. Build up your no claims bonus. If you don't claim for a number of years, the insurer will give you a bigger discount.
iii. Restrict the number of named drivers on your policy. Removing just one other driver keeps the cost down - and young drivers push it up!
iv. Buy a smaller taxi. Smaller taxis with small engines could mean cheaper insurance.
